Do eggs float in water? We found out …..NO. But, if you add salt to the water, they do float. This is because adding salt makes the water more dense. Just like thick honey or washing up liquid. Do other objects float in water without salt? Try it at home to find out.

Today in science club we used Smarties to see what would happen if we poured warm water onto them. We arranged them in a circ le on a white plate first. Listen to Winter’s explanation about what dissolving means.

Do you know what a tornado is? Do you know how they are formed? Children in science club have been learning how they are made in real life. We had a go at making our own tornado in a bottle.

Today in science club the children made paper clip chains using magnets. We found that some of the magnets held more paper clips than others. Do you know happens when you mix oil and water? The children in science club found out today. We found that oil and water don’t mix unless we added washing up liquid.

For our first session, the children have been learning about static electricity. We used balloons, a comb and tissue paper. Look at what happened to our hair and the tissue paper when we rubbed the balloon against our jumpers.
